WE’RE BAAAACK ….
Part 3 of our Spring Fling 2024 Challenge …
In Part Two you made 4-patch blocks. Some of those 4-patch blocks need to be turned into 16-patch blocks (review the chart below for accurate count).
Stitch 4 of the 4-patch units together. We'll call it a 4-patch of 4-patches.
For every completed block in your quilt you will need ONE 16-patch unit. How many blocks do you need? That depends on the size quilt you’re planning. No plan? Start with 20 blocks – it will produce a nice size quilt that measures 64” x 80”.
Completed blocks | Layout | Measurement | Number of 16-patch units |
9 | 3 blocks x 3 blocks | 48” x 48” | 9 |
16 | 4 blocks x 4 blocks | 64” x 64” | 16 |
20 | 4 blocks x 5 blocks | 64” x 80” | 20 |
25 | 5 blocks x 5 blocks | 80” x 80” | 25 |
When you have completed Part Three you should still have a stack of leftover 4-patches from Part Two. Put these aside, you will use them later.
Pat yourself on the back! You’ve put a small dent in your pile of scraps, maybe cleaned up a little floor fabric and can honestly say: SPRING CLEANING HAS STARTED (or finished!!)
