Jacob is still traveling along on a whirlwind Summer Vacation. His fourth stop is a relaxing stroll through some of our most beautiful Florida gardens. Native plants or imported exotics, they all have their place and their beauty. Why not enjoy a walk along the many paths through the many gardens available right in our own backyard (or at least no more than a days drive).

Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden
Located in the Miami suburb of Coral Gables, the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden has displayed a wide collection of tropical flora since 1938. Don't miss the gardens' annual mango and chocolate festivals.
Kanapaha Botanical Gardens
You can get lost in Gainesville's Kanapaha Botanical Gardens: they are spread over 62 acres with a view on a large lake. These gardens are dog-friendly.

General Directions (to make 1 block):
Nine-Patch Units – with a variety of different colors and prints use nine 2.5” squares and stitch them together in rows of 3 to form a nine-patch unit that finishes at 6.5” x 6.5”.

Half Square Triangle Units – Using a background color and a main color, cut 2 – 7” squares of each to make 4 matching HSTs. Square them up to 6.5” (see Basic Beginnings for easy HST directions).

To make our favorite Jacob in the Garden layout you will need 20 Escalated Jacob blocks and a 3” green border. Finished size of this quilt will be 78" x 96".
