Workshop Wonderland: Explore the Art of Quilting!
Dive into the enchanting world of quilting with MM SewCharming's diverse array of workshops, carefully crafted to cater to quilters of all levels and tastes. Our offerings promise an immersive and educational experience, led by experienced instructors with a passion for the art of quilting.
YARN DYEING
We’re passionate about color — and as small-batch dyers, we love sharing that joy with others. In this hands-on class, you’ll learn the art of yarn dyeing while creating your own beautifully unique skeins. Whether you want to dye just one skein as a keepsake, experiment with a few for your next project, or spark a brand-new hobby, this experience is fun, creative, and educational. You’ll walk away with a deeper understanding of how color interacts with fiber — and a skein (or more!) of yarn that’s truly one-of-a-kind.
FABRIC DYEING
Quilters know that fabric tells the story of every quilt — and what better way to make your work shine than with fabric you’ve dyed yourself? In this class, you’ll learn simple, approachable dyeing techniques that turn plain fabric into vibrant, custom pieces ready for piecing, patchwork, or appliqué. Explore color blending, layering, and shading while creating fabrics that are as unique as your quilting style. Whether you’re new to dyeing or looking to add another creative layer to your quilting, this class is inspiring, practical, and just plain fun.
FILLERS, SASHINGS, SETTINGS, and BORDERS

M&M will teach methods and techniques for combining random blocks into a cohesive unit to create a quilt top that “Works”. You will leave with the skills necessary to accomplish what you once thought impossible. Fun and educational for anybody who has ever made a block (or 12) that ended up being orphans. (Accompanying lecture/trunk show optional – Plays Nice With
Blocks or Best Intentions)
CHARM SQUARED

If your Guild or Quilt Group has ever done a Charm Swap or wants to do one – M&M can facilitate a successful transition from a pile of charms to a fabulous quilt top. Just 2 yards worth of scrappy fabric is all you need to get started, using our “secret sauce recipe” you will be amazed at what you end up producing.
½-day workshop: you will leave with the tools to complete your quilt top at home.
Full-day workshop: you could have a completed top by the end of the day.
TRIP AROUND THE BLOCK

Fun and interactive way to build block kits. We turn the tables and demonstrate piecing traditional blocks in a non-traditional way. The result is an individual block inspired by a vintage pattern. NO triangles or sideways sewing!
96-CHARM CHALLENGE
Gather up 96 charms … all "matchy matchy", all different, all coordinated (or not). It will ALL work. Sew, cut and sew back together = the blocks turn mysteriously on-point AND the border is formed – no triangles or setting blocks. It all happens at the same time. Yes, it’s quilty magic!
MAGIC 4-PATCH = CHARMING 4-SQUARE

How do you get four 3” squares out a 5” charm? Master this method with Mayhem and Madness. Mary and Marjorie will move you through the mathematical magic that miraculously makes this marvelous manner of manufacturing HSTs
possible. That’s just the beginning. You will be mesmerized as the block morphs into a marvelous design.
JELLY ROLL BARGELLO

The twists and turns, curves, and peaks of Bargello quilts can be sew simple. With the aid of strip-piecing and pre-cuts, you can be accurate, fast and efficient. This is straight seam sewing with a really big "WOW" factor. You will be amazed at how quickly your beautiful Bargello will come together. BEWARE... Bargello is addictive. You WILL want to make more.
THE PERFECT STORM

Whether you live in a region that tracks hurricanes, like those of us who live in Florida, or you keep an out eye for the next Nor’easter or … you just happen to be a Weather Channel junkie, we are all effected by storms. Join us for a fun
QAL (quilt-along). We’ll be weathering The Perfect Storm in our happy place – the sewing room! (full-day only)
4-PATCH POSY
Some call this technique “Stack ‘n Whack”. Some call it “Kaleidoscope”. We call it FAST and FUN … it’s how we roll! You don’t need major yardage to make this design work. You only need 4 repeats of the fabric. More fabric = bigger quilt.
You will be amazed at how these blocks will twirl.
GONNA BE
When the M&M Sew Charming Facebook group hit 500 members, it seemed fitting to design a quilt with 500 pieces. When making THIS quilt, know that you are connected to 500 people who all share a love of fabric! This is a BIG
milestone, and we designed a quilt with BIG stash busting in mind. The center will measure 40” x 40” before borders. You can always make more … Go BIG!! Charm friendly, of course.
CROSSROADS PICNIC

This is one of our more popular quilt classes – it’s a “big WOW, with easy sewing” class. You’ll be amazed at how simple this one is to make. Best part … it get’s “squared-up” so that all the blocks fit together perfectly.
HIDDEN WELLS
.png)
This is a sew-easy pattern using 2.5” strips. The magic comes from your fabric choices – coordinated, scrappy, monochrome – it will all work, and it will look very different depending on your fabric. The possibilities are only limited to your imagination and your fabric stash … in other words – no limits!
JAPANESE RICE BAG

Not all quilts are for beds. Some quilts have other practical uses. Once the simple piecing is complete, it’s time to really get into the fun of threads and stitching, beads, buttons and baubles. No two bags ever turn out alike. Be ready for lots of oohs and ahhs!!
MM Sew Charming was created by Mary and Marjorie (M&M) as a way for quilters to gather and share a common interest, a common language, a common love of fiber and color. While our focus is quilting, we also provide lectures, demonstrations, and classes on many things related to fabric and other fibers. Thank you for being part of our community and for allowing us to be part of yours. We hope to share our enthusiasm, our passion, our combined 90+ years of experience, and our expertise with tools of the trade (especially the seam ripper).
